Sacred Journeys has participated in three mission trips since its inception: Re-Member (Pine Ridge Indian Reservation) and the Appalachia Service Project. We are currently planning a 2025 trip to Pine Ridge. These trips are not about evangelism, but about serving people in need and growing spiritually through these experiences. Trips are not necessarily yearly, but are taken when there is enough interest. Learn more about these mission trips below.
Sacred Journeys has taken two trips to South Dakota to learn more about the history, culture, spirituality and challenges of the Native Americans living on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. While there, volunteers do various construction projects including: wheelchair ramps, trailer porches, trail skirting, bunkbeds and outhouses. Re-Member volunteers help to rebuild relationships, homes and lives.
ASP has a long history of serving the people int the Appalachian region of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Their goal is to make homes warmer, safter and drier. Not only are volunteers fixing roofs, installing insulation, putting up drywall, reinforcing foundations, building ramps and porches, they are building relationships with the families whose homes they are working on. In the summer of 2018, Sacred Journeys took two crews to Chavies, Kentucky, where they worked on drywalling, flooring, and insulation.
