Resiliency… it’s how we get through the trying, difficult, often painful times in life. We will all need an extra dose of resiliency to make it through not only this time of Safer-at Home, but the economic downturn, the fear of a second wave of the virus, the paranoia of being near others, the gaping divides between people, and the sadness of all we’ve missed out on and will miss out on. Many people will also be grieving the loss of loved ones. I’m afraid the ramifications of this pandemic are seemingly endless.
Brene’ Brown, research professor at the University of Houston, found that one of the key factors in people’s resiliency was spirituality. Not religion, or a set of beliefs, but spirituality. In her book, The Gifts of Imperfection, she writes, “Without exception, spirituality – the belief in connection, a power greater than self, and interconnections grounded in love and compassion – emerged as a component of resilience.”
There is a mystical knowing of the Divine inherent to each spiritual journey. It is a deep, intuitive sense that there is more to life and more to our very selves than is apparent to the eye. Along with this knowing comes the strength, hope, and courage to keep putting one foot in front of the other. We are resilient, we will bounce back, it just may take some time.
Love & Light!
