So, I’m a little frustrated. I’ve been repurposing an old six-panel door (you know, the kind where all the panels run horizontal) into a bookshelf (if I ever finish I’ll share a picture with you). I sanded and used liquid sandpaper on the door before I re-stained it, but now it is a little bit tacky and it won’t dry! I can’t leave it that way because that tackiness will just hold onto every piece of dust and dirt that falls on it. Plus, it just feels gross.
Now, don’t get hung up on my example, because my real point is to ask a question: how tacky are you? How easily do you get stuck on ideas or opinions, or stuck in ruts, or get hung up on comments or actions of others? Because sometimes we’re like my sticky door, allowing everything to get stuck to us and eventually being weighed down by all of it.
Truly, the spiritual path is not about seeing how much we can cling to, but how much we can let go of. It’s going to take a lot of work to get my door to stop being sticky, but I think it is going to be awesome when it is done. How about you? Will you take as much work? Will you learn not to cling to those things that don’t serve you and let them slide right off? I know I’m working on it. It’s a life-long process.
Love & Light!
