Keeping Our Center ~ Day 94

I know I’m preaching to the choir today, but it is Whiny Thursday and every once and a while I just need to say this…

I’m tired of the loudest “Christian” voices spouting hatred and claiming it comes from God.

I’m tired of people who quote Bible verses like that is what it means to be faithful.

I’m tired of people spouting their beliefs as if everyone needs the right answer to join the club.

I’m tired of fear-based, guilt-inducing, shame-ridden religion.

I’m tired of televangelists saying “Show me the money!” if you want to be blessed.

I’m tired of people co-opting the name Christian to advance their own selfish, narrow-minded goals.

Don’t scream your beliefs at me, show me how your faith changes the way you live.

Show me that you actually listen to the stories of Jesus when he tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves, love our enemies, turn the other cheek, and to be compassionate.

Show me your faith by listening to and respecting people who are different.

Show me your faith by wearing a mask to protect your health and the health of others.

Show me your faith by living compassionately.

Show me your faith by trying to understand and not judge.

Show me your faith by speaking kind, encouraging words and kicking to the curb the little gremlin inside you that wants to be negative and critical.

Show me your faith by voting for those who care more about people than corporations and money.

Show me your faith by standing with and for the oppressed.

Show me your faith by erring on the side of love over and over and over again.

If your faith in Something More is not changing the way you think and live so that more light, love, justice, and harmony is created in the world, then your faith is simply empty words.

Just sayin’…
