Keeping Our Center ~ Day 88

Wu wei (to continue from yesterday) can also be seen as the opposite of conscious striving.

Here is a brief passage from the “Tao Te Ching,” written by the great philosopher, Lao Tzu:

To obtain a diploma requires the storage of trivia.
To obtain the Great Integrity requires their abandonment.
The more we are released from vested fragments of knowledge,
the less we are compelled to take vested actions,
until all is done without doing.
When the ego interferes
in the rhythms of process,
there is so much doing!
But nothing is done.

Virus or no virus, the annual graduation processions continue, yet Lao Tzu challenges us to let go of the “knowledge” that we have lest it bias us to act in ways that may not be in alignment with the Great Integrity (God energy). We can get in the way of our own growth (not to mention others) when we think we know what is best and always force, or manipulate, our agendas in any given situation. The best way to live in alignment with the energy of God, Lao Tzu says, is to get our egos out of the way, to move with the rhythms of life, and never violate the needs and harmony of human beings in the process.

When we are exhausted from trying to fix our lives, or fix others, or  make things happen the way we want them to, it is time to learn the practice of wu wei. With the action of non-action, we allow ourselves to stop long enough for God to begin to fill us up and work with the pieces of our lives in a natural, non-coercive way. From this position of waiting, observing and awareness, we will be able to recognize where the Spirit is moving in our lives to help us grow, or to help us know our next best step to take. It is then that “all is done without doing.”

Love & Light!
