Keeping Our Center ~ Day 7

This is our second Sunday apart and, in all honesty, we’re not sure how long this will last. It’s hard not knowing, but perhaps it is also a good time to practice letting go of the illusion of control, which can be a challenge given that I’m a recovering control freak who tends to backslide a lot.

Part of the spiritual journey is trusting that the Spirit is in the midst of the chaos working to bring goodness and light. We can see this in the multitude of ways people are reaching out to help and support one another.

When I’m successful at channeling this type of trust, there is a sense of sacred uncertainty. The waiting, the gap, the not knowing about the future all become sacred in the presence of the Spirit.  Sitting quietly with sacred uncertainty, I can smile and breathe again. Suddenly, my brain can take a break from all unanswered questions. Gradually, I feel more at peace and see more clearly what I might do to make the present moment a little better for myself and for others.
