Keeping Our Center ~ Day 6

One of the most uncomfortable places to be is in the gap – the space between what was and what is yet to be. It reminds me of the experience of going between the countries of Jordan and Israel on a bus. We went through security on one side, then the bus drove through a section of land, with walls so high we couldn’t see our surroundings, until we got to the other side where we went through security again. In that short distance we were neither here nor there. What we’d left was gone, but what was coming couldn’t be seen yet.

That gap was short-lived. I’ve stood in the gap for much longer than that and have basically found it to be not only uncomfortable, but scary and lonely all at the same time. It would be easy to allow myself to get caught up worrying about the gap… worrying about how and when I/we will get through it… worrying about what things will look like on the other side. But we all know that worrying doesn’t change anything. So, I work on taking a deep breath and living in each moment with as much kindness, patience and compassion as I can.

There will always be gaps to live through, the only question is how will we live through them?

Love & Light,

Kaye
