Keeping Our Center ~ Day 51

Have you ever thought about how circular life is? Always reminds me of the awesome song from the Lion King, Circle of Life (which I love and will now be singing for the rest of the day… here’s the link if you want to join me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GibiNy4d4gc).

Anyway, it seems like an easy thing to remember. Sadly, I’m prone to only seeing to the horizon, forgetting that life goes on after that and opportunities come around again. Truth be told, the Earth is round and there are no dragons to be found lurking at some imaginary edge. There is life and death and life again, in a multitude of ways. There are beginnings and endings and more beginnings. There is joy and sorrow, and another day there will be joy again.  I forget.

I forget and get stuck in endings. I’m always sad to finish a good book, because I wish it could go on and on. I love doing puzzles, but seriously dislike breaking them apart once we’ve finally finished. I grieve when something happens and I know that life will never be the same again. Because it won’t.

Eventually, though, if we continue to engage life, there will be more wonderful things to experience. You all know this as well as I do. We’ve lived the circle of life. We’ve had so many endings that we can’t even count them, but something always moves in to fill the void. When our abilities change, we find new hobbies and ways to spend our time. When a friend moves away, we slowly find others to spend time with. When we lose loved ones, the world inevitably will start turning again and we find new routines, new projects, new ways to find fulfillment.

The spiritual path invites a deeper and deeper trusting of the circle of life. Trusting that the Spirit is with us on the journey, working in the beginnings and endings, opening windows and doors, and creating pathways where there were none before.

Love & Light!
