Keeping Our Center ~ Day 13

Good Morning!

Mark Twain once said, “My life has been filled with many misfortunes, most of which never happened.”

This thought is right up there with the concept that worrying must work since most of what we worry about never happens! I hope most of you aren’t letting your minds run the hamster wheels of worry, fear, and what ifs. Yet, from what I see on Facebook, many people are losing sleep, eating poorly and lacking motivation. I get it. I do. My daughter got a low grade fever a few days ago, and something once not-such-a-big-deal can now be somewhat alarming. She’s fine, by the way.

We often don’t care to believe this, but the reality is that we choose to get on the hamster wheel. It may not feel like it, but we do. We can also choose to get off by living in the moment, by looking for the blessings that surround us and being grateful, and by finding positive things to do. The movie “Eat, Pray, Love” had a great suggestion for how to handle grief, worry and concern for someone we’re not with. It’s as simple as this, when you think of them send them love and light. Sometimes I add a candle to that. For me, I feel like envisioning them enveloped in that wonderful, positive energy of love and warmth is much better than sending the anxious energy of our worrying.

To take my own advice… this moment on the couch with my tea, my cookie and my dog curled up against me as I watch the rain and write to you, is really good. I am so grateful for my life, my family, my home, and for this amazing spiritual community.

As I so often do, I’m sending all of you love and light,

Kaye
