Keeping Our Center ~ Day 10

I absolutely love this short poem by Nikos Kazantakis:

I said to the almond tree:

Speak to me of God;

and the almond tree blossomed.

Not only is it a wonderful image of spring bursting forth, but it is the very essence of how we each can speak of God – by bringing forth the best of our very essence. When we blossom by sharing our authentic selves, by sharing our gifts, skills and talents, by offering compassion, unconditional love, acceptance and understanding, it speaks volumes of the Divine Spark that resides in each of us.

It’s easy to get caught up in judging the action (or inaction) of others. It’s easy to complain about what we can’t do, or where we can’t go.  It’s easy to be cynical and sarcastic. It’s easy to get caught up in pointing fingers and laying blame. But none of that really helps the world. Right now, the world needs each of us to blossom. The world needs us to reach past the layers of fear, anger, grief and uncertainty to let the budding spark within push through the darkness and burst into the world with compassion and grace. The world needs us to blossom with kindness and patience, even when it is hard. The world needs to us try to make the best of a bad situation, because how we respond is the only thing under our control. The world needs us to blossom because that speaks of God. And God speaks of hope. And we need that right now.

Blossom today… the people in your life, and in the world, need you.

Love & Light!
