Keeping Our Center ~ Day 1

(As long as worship and events are suspended because of the Corona virus, I'll be offering a daily reflection to help keep us centered.)

As I watch the sunrise this morning, I ponder the concept of abundance versus scarcity. All we have to do is go to the grocery store these days to see that people have bought in - hook, line and sinker - to the belief that there is not enough to go around. Spiritually, this energy of scarcity takes us down a very unhealthy road. It is a contractive, fear-based, anxiety-ridden energy that fuels selfishness, greed, and toilet paper hoarding. This type of panic is a breeding ground for craziness. We all need to take a collective breath.

A spirituality of abundance asks us to see what we have, not what we don’t have. I have a feeling that all of us (at least on this email list) have a few weeks’ worth of food in our homes, we have roofs over our heads, money in the bank, friends and family who care, not to mention this awesome spiritual community to rely on! Oh, we don’t want to rely on anyone.. heaven forbid we have to ask for help. But that is part of our abundance, we’re not alone, so let’s be grateful and accepting of it. If you run out of toilet paper (or whatever), you have lots of people you can ask to lend you a roll or two!

Deep breath. Let’s count our proverbial blessings, be grateful for the people we can count on (even if we don’t want to), and recognize that we have enough and some to share.

Love & Light!
